The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
